Illuminance 11:52
Reborn and covered in smolders Breathing lead filled air Drenched in purified smoke Shaded by trees like mountains Roots that cover rocks and men Born again from the oceans and the sky Breathing air purified by sunlight, gleaming May he who heralds the night be the signal of my return to the earth Am I breathing? Or have I become one with the earth? Beneath the tender soil These solemn nights converge into one And may trees grow at my resting place May they shade me from the light of the stars Shed their leaves on me in the autumn May what is theirs becomes ours The wall I see, a light through me Am I dreaming? Or have I become one with the earth? Beneath the tender soil These solemn nights converge into one

Take your place among the stars And shine down on moonlit meadows low Fill the empty horizons with your light Guiding wanderers through the dark I can still hear you as you sing that mournful tune The night is silent all but that simple mournful tune I'm not alone in this place You paint the world in your hue You pierce the dark with your light You are the sound that masks the air I walk among them And breathe the air they breathe But I feel so misplaced here Beneath the glimmering night Surrounded by the dark I feel your essence as if you were among us Are you home? Is this light yours? Why is it fading? Don't leave me...

about

This EP is my side of a split with Courtsleet. Due to manufacturing problems, however, we have decided to release both of our sides as separate EP's so that they can be released physically later as a complete package and split.

Courtsleet's side, titled "Hope's Apparition", is available here: courtsleet.bandcamp.com/album/hopes-apparition

Starlight's Guide is a soundtrack for wanderers - airy and atmospheric post-rock with reserved but powerful doom metal. Delicate synths create enrapturing soundscapes with guitars constantly switching between gentle and crushing, feverish and desperate vocals and tense drumwork.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.

"The follow up to 2013's brilliantly conceived self titled debut, "Starlight's Guide" is every bit as breathtaking as it's predecessor, but with a notable layer of fresh air to bring it all together." - Sorrow Eternal sorroweternal.blogspot.co.uk

"Some master the fragile balance that lies between the emotion that lies in post-rock and the primal carnage of black metal to create a beautiful beast that takes great influence from both without becoming too saturated with either side. Of Solitude and Solemn's lone member Joe Hawker often revels in that very achievement with his latest offering, "Starlight's Guide."" - Micah-Nahum Ferguson, Sputnikmusic.com
